Rottler SG7 and SG8 – CH Guide and Valve Seat Machining

SG7 and SG8 models are manufactured by Rottler under CONCEN brand that is a guarantee of high accuracy and versatility. Rottler specialists have created machines with a precision hard-alloy centring device and a light air-operated spindle head to provide perfect centring during valve guide machining. This technology guarantees the best valve seat and guide alignment parameters about the axis among equipment manufacturers in this field. The accuracy of 0.0005 inches per inch (0.02 mm per 25 mm) and higher is easily achieved.


CAPABILITIES

  • Alignment.Rottler precision hard-alloy centring devices are manufactured to a tolerance of one tenth. SG7 machine equipped with a light air-operated spindle head outperforms all the existing machines of this type in terms of valve guide centring and alignment parameters.
  • Integrated vacuum tester performs fast valve seat testing without removing the cylinder head from the machine.
  • Tool cabinet. Three drawers and a top shelf provide comfortable storage for all Rottler tools.
  • 360 degree pivot mechanism.Provides fast work piece installation and easy access to all of its components. Fast cylinder head alignment using a special fine tuning function. The clamping device firmly locks the part with a quick release mechanism. The device is firmly attached to a table and provides high-precision centring and vibration-free operation.
  • Hard-alloy base. A stand with thick heavy cast iron walls provides high-precision vibration-free machining of valve seats. The bottom of the stand is displaced to the machine back for safe operation. Footwell provides for comfortable machine service.
  • Light spindle head. SG7 machine is equipped with a light spindle head for fast and accurate centring to provide maximum alignment. Spindle overboard carrier bearings are adjusted along the entire bearing area similar to a precision spindle bar.
  • Spindle rotation speed is adjusted within 40–400 rpm  — Smooth change of spindle rotation speed allows to perform different operations with the machine. Touch keys and digital display are user friendly.
  • Electronic level. Digital display guarantees fast and accurate adjustment.
  • Counterboring depth indicator. This displays the movement distance, which guarantees accurate and even counterboring depth. It is also useful during installation of valve seat rings, repair of valve guides, final machining of spring seats etc.
  • Adjustable depth stop.
  • Two speed spindle feed. A large flywheel provides for fast feeding, and a small flywheel provides for precision spindle feeding. It is very useful when boring needs to be performed with maximum accuracy.
  • 15 degree tilt. The spindle is tilted 15 degrees out of vertical in all directions, which allows to easily adjust it for machining of any CH sloping valves. It guarantees seat boring to the same depth which is a necessary condition for modern computer-controlled engines.
  • Spindle nut. Provides for fast tool and adapter sleeve replacement.
  • Rottler patent cutting tools. With Rottler tools for SG series machines, runout is excluded completely. A spherical adapter sleeve provides for fast tool replacement, which allows to pass from seat milling to drilling or boring in a few seconds. Move the sealing ring down, then align the tool carrier upright and move it down to the fixed centring device. When the tool carrier is lowered down, the sealing ring is moved up and the tool is ready for operation. The centring device is switched from one machining point to another with a single turn of the key, fast and easy.
